Tia Vogel / Folulutia
A Harpy whose wings were stolen and who disguised as a human to learn flight magic.
With the cooperation of Oliver and the Magical Flying Device, has acquired a means to fly.
Currently considering uses for the secret weapon.

Wren Bayer
Assistant Representative for the Apprentice Mages. A brainy pretty boy.
Grasping for some ways to use inscription magic.
Thanks to Hütter’s teachings, has shown his face in countless Offices, and is doted on by adults throughout the Wedge Tower.

Adelheid Sevil Lamea Krewing
Her Highness, the Emperor’s sister. The ‘Barbarian Sword Princess’ who uses a curved sword.
Fell in love with the Margrave of Warmberg, and is plotting to marry him, declare independence, then rule as Queen with an iron fist.
The Margrave in question is clutching his stomach.

Smoke Fox / Caspar Hütter (Fake)
A third-rate conman who infiltrated the Wedge Tower on the orders of the Black Lion Emperor.
When he was young, he wandered and worked as a traveling performer.
He left his hometown believing he would become something great. He wasn’t able to become anything, and ended up as a conman.

Apprentice Mages

Röhm’s Class: Class taught by a genius woman who uses both Modern and Classical Magecraft.

Roswitha Ohlendorf
A Classical mage with a pointy hat. Controls fish made of water.
She’s in love with Headmaster Möbius. (He’s around thirty years older than her.)

Ella Frank
Representative of the Apprentices, a glasses-wearing honor student. Bad at emitting mana.
Is thinking she wants to try using showy, cool magecraft.

Sophie Schwarzenberg
Hails from a famous family of Shamans.
Has five curses embedded in her body, but can only use curses that kill someone painfully.
Came to the Wedge Tower because she could fulfill a role there without having to use her curses.

Sombart’s Class: Class focused on Modern Magecraft that prioritizes practicality.

Julius Löwenich
Son of Samuel Löwenich, a prominent mage.
Contracted with Flame Spirit Agniol.
Tries to cover up Agniol’s indiscretions with a “Ku, ku, ku.”

Flame Spirit Agniol
Julius’ contracted spirit. Was previously contracted to Samuel Löwenich.
Calls Julius ‘Young Master’ and calls Samuel by his first name. Very sociable.

John Rose
Red haired, fuzzy, and muscular.
Tried to talk about magecraft the same way he did back home and it ended in disaster. Currently reflecting on his actions.

Oliver Lange
Member of the Lange Family of Monster hunters. The spiky-haired ‘Red Rain.’
Has no talent for magecraft or combat, but is a good student otherwise.
Passionate about supporting his brother.

Armster’s Class: Class that focuses on imbuement magic and the creation of magical devices.

Rukiye Sorge
Stubborn girl with the eye of an artisan.
Currently working on the lame secret weapon Wren asked her for as well as the secret weapon Tia asked her for.

Finn Nohl
Out of the Apprentice Mages, he and Sophie are the youngest. Has weak legs and drags his feet as he walks.
Has a poor intuition, but tries his best. Everyone dotes on him like a little brother.

Gerald Anker
A boy with long bangs. Roommates with Wren.
Very polite and hard on himself.
Leaves his room early in the morning for sword practice.

Mages of the First Spire: White Smoke

Melchior John Hegelich
Director of the Guidance Office. A blond-haired bowl-cut glasses-wearing middle-aged man.
Since he’s a Modern Magecraft user, has a weak standing in the First Spire, where most of the higher ranks are dominated by the Classical School.

Anneliese Röhm
Member of the Guidance Office. A nice young lady with short bangs.
Before her mana organs were damaged, she was the ace of the Extermination Office.
Frederik sees her as his senior and mentor.

Kaufmann
Member of the Finance Office. A middle-aged man who wears a suit and tinted glasses.
Sells magical devices made in the Wedge Tower, conducts negotiations with outside institutions, and is active in many domains.

Herr
Member of the Finance Office. Wears a checkered shirt. His catchphrase is “That’s bad news, he’s not kidding!”
Is the son of a high-ranking member of the General Affairs Office, and hails from a famous family in the Classical School, but had no talent for magecraft, so ended up joining the Finance Office.

Mages of the Second Spire: Golden Needle

Otto
Member of the Protection Office. Is often stationed as a gatekeeper.
Former member of the Extermination Office. Has lost his wife and child.

Frederik Lange
Member of the Extermination Office. Mr. Smiley who excels at flight magic.
Is a gentle young man, but is not gentle when his brother or Monsters are involved.
Was apparently a crybaby and coward when he was little.

Helena
Member of the Extermination Office. Frederik’s classmate. User of water magic.
‘Don’t aim for Helena (You wouldn’t be able to handle it if she got mad)’ is an unspoken rule in the Extermination Office.

Rikard Oks
Member of the Extermination Office. Frederik’s classmate. Wields an axe.
Hails from a Monster-hunting family: ‘the Dark-Skinned Oks.’ Has lost his younger sister.
Wants to be a Monster hunter who sings and dances to make people smile. Writes down a new one-liner every day.

Dammer
Member of the Extermination Office. A man with a huge X-shaped scar on his face. Wields a whip.
Spooked by the strength of Dream Mage Caspar Hütter, is trying to think of other means to get Tia to disappear.
His smile is stupendous. (According to Tia.)

Mages of the Third Spire: Water Bubble

Kappel
Director of the Management Office. An old man and an inventor.
Rarely uses his bedroom, and often sleeps over in the Management Office.

Winston Barrett
Member of the Management Office. Specialized in long-distance flight.
Good enough that he holds the record for flight distance with flight magic in his home country.
Wants to allow other people to fly as well, so is lending his hand to the creation of the Magical Flying Device.

Post-Script

The preparations for the magic battle went on longer than expected, so I’ve changed the name of the volume.
Volume 4 goes from “The Magic Battle” to “Flying Through the Sky”
